Description AWS Truepower is seeking a mid-level Renewable Energy Analysts to join AWST’s Energy Services group. AWST Analysts contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. This position will work under the direction of an Energy Team Leader having responsibility for the completion of high-quality renewable energy analysis work with a focus on operational projects. The analysis of renewable energy projects at AWST involves working across the full spectrum of analysis from data processing, visualization, descriptive and inferential statistics to completed energy reports. This is a full-time position located in the United States and based out of the Albany, NY office. Qualifications 

Responsibilities include:
  • Timely and efficient completion of high-quality renewable energy analysis work
  • Carry out operational energy analyses under minimal supervision, including:
  • Management and analysis of project data
  • Review, validation, and analysis of meteorological and SCADA data for solar and wind resource assessment
  • Estimation of plant losses and calculation of assessment uncertainties
  • Portfolio assessment of multiple renewable energy project uncertainties (Monte Carlo)
  • Contribute to reports of analysis for clients
  • Understand and ensure company quality control standards are met
  • Support business development activities, including meeting with customers and presenting at conferences (mid-level)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a quantitative field (physical science, engineering, data science or statistics) from an accredited University
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the wind or solar energy sector
  • Thorough working knowledge of a programming language(s) for use in statistics and data visualization, preferably in R. Python or MATLAB are also acceptable
  • Database management skills preferably in Microsoft SQL or PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
Preferred:
  • Master of Science or Engineering degree in a quantitative field (physical science, engineering, data science or statistics) from an accredited University
  • Working knowledge of current wind turbine and PV technology with a focus on operational performance
  • Proven track record of SCADA analysis of discrete event data and time series data
  • Knowledge of data science concepts such as machine learning
  • Proven track record with meteorological data analysis
  • Numerical computer programming language skills
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Additional Information 

Location: This position will be located in Albany, NY or San Diego, CA. Remote working opportunity may be available. Minimal travel may be required.
