  • Work with the engineering team to design, implement, and deploy data pipelines based on Spark, Hadoop, and PySpark runtimes
  • Use familiarity with concepts like data modeling, statistics and machine learning to develop and deploy pipelines to surface analytical products to consumers
  • Use knowledge of storage platforms like HDFS, MySQL, and Elasticsearch
  • Create platform tools to allow teams in Oracle Utilities to self-service use cases
  • Participate in governance of the data platform ecosystem; proposing and implementing security and access controls for products implemented in data platform
  • Participate in Hadoop cluster operations including a 24x7 support rotation
  • Use devops tooling like Chef to maintain clusters

About You 
  • Graduate degree and 2 years work in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or Bachelor’s degree and 4 years work experience
  • Background or coursework in distributed systems such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or Apache Zookeeper
  • Knowledge of basic POSIX operating systems such shell scripting, filesystem layout, block device mounting, etc.
  • Background in database theory and modeling including normalization and star schema; experience defining and using relational data models through technologies like SQL
  • Experience with analytics technologies like NumPy, PySpark, R, or Matlab
  • Experience creating and deploying HIVE UDF’s, Oozie workflows, and Spark applications a plus

Detailed Description and Job Requirements 
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications. 

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products. 

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
