Description The primary responsibility of the Marketing Planning & Analysis (MP&A) Analyst will be to evaluate data and develop insights and reports that support continuous improvement of SolarCity’s customer acquisition efforts. The analyst will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data to evaluate sales activities, business initiatives, and marketing campaigns and to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and/or expansion. S/he will synthesize information from multiple sources, develop insights and recommendations to improve on key metrics, and present findings to stakeholders throughout the organization. 

Other representative tasks include conducting market research, creating knowledge repositories, producing monthly analysis and insights packages, and developing reports that effectively present business conditions and information. The analyst will work closely with other members of the MP&A team, as well as the departmental heads in charge of marketing decisions and IT resources responsible for creating centralized company information. 

While the primary focus of the role will be related to customer acquisition analysis and insight development, the MP&A Analyst may also get involved in a variety of other data intensive projects and tasks supporting the MP&A team as his or her capacity permits. 

  • Analyze sales and marketing results and trends and develop insights that will influence sales and marketing plans
  • Use SQL to query data from company databases in order to support various MP&A analyses
  • Create models for proposed marketing initiatives to predict response and influence program parameters
  • Become subject matter expert in key sales metrics and owner of related reporting
  • Develop and present insights, reports, and business process recommendations to Sales and Marketing business leaders based on key findings from sales metrics
  • Develop monthly and ad-hoc reporting packages communicating performance results, thoughtful context, and related opportunities to be distributed to business line owners
  • Create and manage knowledge repositories for key historical context, results, and performance metrics
  • Conduct market research and present findings to inform MP&A, Finance, and other company resources about the industry and to drive best practices
  • Drive other projects as needed by executives or as business needs change
  • Bachelor’s degree – Concentration in quantitative, engineering, or business related field required
  • 2-4 years of experience in consulting, marketing analysis, finance, accounting, engineering or some other field that affords experience with data modeling, reporting, analysis, or presentation and the underlying tools required of these tasks
  • Proficiency with MS Excel required. Experience working with large amounts of data, using pivot tables and complex functions preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interface with others to gather necessary data and present results. Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly developing environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and interactively
  • 1+ year work experience using SQL or a demonstrated ability to learn programming languages
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint presentation; advanced knowledge or experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Regular reliable predictable attendance in the office interacting with others required
