icon biofuel.jpg Scientist, Algenol. Responsibilities of successful applicant will include: 1) Designing, conducting, and evaluating scientific experiments, including advanced protocols in both light and dark reactions of photosynthesis 2) Introducing techniques and principles for the evaluation of algal photosynthesis 3) Designing, implementing, and overseeing screens and develop targeted approaches to improve photosynthetic light use efficiency in large scale algal cultures 4) Supervising staff Research Associates 5) Disseminating experimental results through written reports and oral presentations. Applicants are required to have a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Phycology, Plant Biology, Oceanography or a similar discipline. Industrial experience and or post-doctoral experience preferred but not essential. Familiarity and experience in general lab practices, lab safety rules, and advanced scientific equipment for the field is also must.

Biologist, Tetra Tech. The job responsibilities includes Wetland delineation; Field surveys, species specific and general surveys, plant community mapping, mitigation monitoring; Report writing, permit applications, database management; Sediment control assessments and monitoring; Conduct/Supervise field work and reporting for Phase I and II Site Assessments; Develop work plans, reports and proposals for various types of investigations and assessments; and, Soil and Groundwater remediation planning and implementation. Applicant must have a MS degree in biology, wildlife or natural resources with three to five years of experience is required. Experience in the oil and gas environmental industry is a plus. A strong background in environmental impact assessment, permitting, ecological field studies, and planning is preferred.

In addition to meeting the educational requirement, candidates must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 level or have completed requirements for a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in addressing moderately complex environmental biology issues.

Mutagenesis Scientist, Amyris. The Scientist for this position will have an advanced degree in genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field. A background in molecular genetics, genetic engineering, or microbial physiology and a proven record of research innovation is required. The successful candidate will take part in designing a mutagenesis and screening program for microbes for the industrial production of second-generation chemicals and biofuels. The job requires a comprehensive understanding of microbial genetics and metabolism, as well as expertise in recombinant DNA technologies. Industrial or post-doctoral experience a plus. Research Chemist, Iogen. Iogen Corporation is looking for a scientifically strong, self-motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate who is interested in applying their expertise in the development of renewable fuels technology. The research involves developing and applying methods for the characterization of the components of feedstocks and substrates (lignin, carbohydrates, and by-products). Spectroscopic and physical characterization of higher structures associated with cellulose such as fibrils, fibres, and plant cell walls will also be required. Good communication skills, combined with an ability to contribute and work within a cross functional team, will be essential. The candidate will be responsible for planning experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, and reporting the main conclusions within the group.
