Department Description
Provide origination and development support to the co-development team with expertise in financial analysis on M&A opportunities, co-development, financial deal structuring, project  economics, customer finance, and project bankability.


Develop pipeline and origination

  • Development a strong understanding of the NA development pipeline and originate new opportunities within the development stage.
  • Collaborate with Market Intelligence team to research energy market and competition on an ongoing basis.
  • Screen prospective projects; evaluating initial project returns on a given site, off taker and regulatory framework.
  • Originate new business development opportunities for North America by successfully assessing new opportunities based on his/her thorough understanding of the North American energy business, including markets, technology and competitors; be able to quickly identify attractive opportunities and decline unattractive ones.

Develop business case and advocate internally

  • Provide guidance and financial evaluations on M&A opportunities for Vestas development and business.
  • Successfully advocate internally for growth opportunities, including completion of internal investment approval memos and presentations to the Investment Committee.
  • Co-development steering committee

Due diligence and commercial offering

  • Manage the due diligence process, leverage developers, market intelligence, legal, product management and third party consultants.

Negotiate and close

  • For originated opportunities, lead the negotiation team and close deal in a timely manner.

Project developers and project management and optimization

  • For current investment portfolio, be the main contact for financial analysis for lead developer.
  • Develop, maintain and/or review financial models and budgets to support project management and decision making for current development pipeline.
  • Ensure that key project assumptions are appropriate and reasonable for the stage of development of a given project, while ensuring that the financial model accurately reflects the terms and conditions of key project documents.

M&A on co-development assets

  • Identify strategic buyers that would be best suited to purchase co-development assets.
  • Develop and pitch opportunities to potential suitors.
  • Identify financial instruments that would assist buyer in reducing cost of capital.
  • Main point of contact with buyer during the due diligence process.

Relationships in the market (early/mid stage developers and financial lenders)

  • Maintain strong relationships with early and mid –stage developers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with financing sources (investment & development banks, institutional investors, private wealth investors, trust funds, etc.).

Support sales and service sales

  • Support the sales force with recommendations as to how to provide solutions to projects in the development phase.


  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Master’s Degree (MBA, M.Sc.) preferred
  • Minimum of three years of professional work experience from finance or banking sector, e.g. investment banking, asset management, real estate investment, project financing
  • 5+ years specific experience in business development, commercial sales and/or sales operations OR specific project financing, market research/intelligence OR a combination of sales and market research experience 
  • Has a strong network of relationships among key stakeholders in the market / industry.
  • Expertise in energy investment analyses, incl. discounted cash flow, NPV/IRR and portfolio analyses
  • Capable of making sound strategic and operational decisions through analyzing data, focusing on customers and commercial awareness.
  • Familiarity with wind power project development preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop materials and escalate opportunities internally.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet cost and schedule commitments.
  • Understanding of energy project economics, wind turbine and service products 
  • Market, contract, and system/process knowledge.
  • Strong customer relations and problem solving skills.
  • Leadership and managerial experience preferred.
  • Strong System Skills – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to perform under high pressure and changing work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
