The Asset Optimization Engineering Lead will manage the performance and operations of our energy storage portfolio to ensure it meets long term contracted requirements while leading algorithm and design efforts in the development of our network operations platform.


  • Leads Green Charge’s team of algorithm developers & statisticians toward higher-performing software applications
  • Develops algorithms that use historical site data to identify potential system performance-impacting issues
  • Provides technical product leadership in the development of the Network Operations Center platform
  • Builds complex optimization models on CPLEX to compute dispatch schedules of energy storage systems
  • Works with product managers and business developers to lead the implementation of new products
  • Develops and implements processes for system tracking and monitoring
  • Performs daily monitoring as well as Monthly, Quarterly, Annual reporting & inspection(s).
  • Responds to and resolves any software, hardware, or performance-related issues across the portfolio
  • Provides technical support to customers and contractors
  • Serves as a technical liaison to the Business Development Manager, Project/Applications Manager/Engineer
  • Responsible for final system commissioning and maintenance
  • Ability to participate in Site Installs, Start-ups, and Internal/External Customer Training as required
  • Ability to lead complex project coordination and training of other Applications Engineers and Technicians


Basic qualifications

  • Ph.D./M.S. in math, physics, engineering, computer science or related field
  • 3-5 years of engineering experience in the energy sector
  • Fluency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Java, C, C++, etc)
  • Mastery of optimization and stochastic modeling, particularly their application on utilities and energy problems
  • Experience with mathematical programming software packages (CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress, R, etc.)
  • Experience working with data mining on large datasets
  • Familiarity with Agile development and test driven development
  • Must be comfortable operating in a fast moving software team

Preferred qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in time series database technologies
  • Working knowledge of statistics and machine learning algorithms
