AECOM Architectural Group is seeking a highly motivated, creative and talented Intern Architectural Designer for immediate employment in our Denver, Colorado office. The Intern will work collaboratively with all team members to cultivate design concepts through modeling, drawings, diagrams, maps, data visualization and statistical analyses as part of the process. The Intern will be expected to be proactive in their initiation, creation and presentation of designs. It is important for the Intern to be able to engage in design collaborations and effectively communicate with fellow design professionals and clients. The Intern will need to be able to articulate questions and have a willingness to engage topics outside of their level of expertise. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic architectural problems
  • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Develop 2D/3D conceptual designs
  • Develop renderings, animations and VR for design presentation
  • Visual programming (Dynamo or Grasshopper)
  • Experimental design
  • High Performance Building design
  • Data driven design and statistical analysis of design iterations
  • Geospatial modeling
  • Energy and daylight modeling
  • Graphic design
  • Preparing Construction Documents
  • Coordinating design efforts with multi-discipline team members
  • Support Senior Architects and Project Managers on multiple tasks
  • Preparing/ contributing to architectural studies
  • Participating in Facility Condition Assessments
  • Contributing to Code Searches
  • Providing advice and consultation to clients on architectural matters, including compliance with codes and regulations

Minimum Requirements 
  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or other related field required
  • Strong design capabilities
  • Experience in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations and 3-D visual simulations
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Rhino/Grasshopper/Dynamo, VRay, 3dsMax, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong technical skills related to planning, and architectural design and detailing
  • Ability to clearly communicate with clients and peers
  • Diversified knowledge of architectural principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Previous experience in developing and prepare design presentations and construction documents for large public and private clients
  • Previous experience coordinating work, civil, structural and MEP disciplines
  • Previous field experience with observing construction progress and capable of providing construction administration services
  • Developing presentation skills
  • Healthcare, Higher Education and Federal project experience

  • A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment
