Description Wireless Test Engineer - LTE, Infotainment 

The Role Tesla Motors is seeking a Wireless Test Engineer for LTE technologies who has minimum 2 years of design and release responsibility for testing telecommunication systems. This engineer will be responsible for validating wireless communications in Tesla vehicles. This engineer must thrive in start-up a company environment with great opportunities for growth and spectacular achievement. 

  • Develop test plans for modem evaluation in vehicle and bench setups.
  • Develop test routes and scenarios for Modem evaluation
  • Execution of tests to verify that behavior of modem functions conforms to specifications, in live network environment (Static/Drive Test)
  • Document and follow up on bugs found in testing internally and with modem vendors.
  • Perform LTE data performance test and analysis
  • Verification of field related issues and drive closure for the issues.
  • Work towards integrating Modem into our products
  • Develop test scripts for lab automation, e.g. Ruby, python, C#, C++
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Must possess at least 2 years of experiences in testing 2G/3G/4G wireless devices
  • Must possess knowledge of LTE and GSM/UMTS protocol stack and must be able to analyze test system logs
  • Knowledge of QXDM is desired
  • Experience in debugging of real-time embedded solutions with lab test equipment (QXDM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, network server)
  • Familiarity with device approval with carriers and PTCRB
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic Programming skills are required to interact with Software team and to convert product requirements into implementable solutions.
  • Knowledge of Linux shell is desired.
  • Experience in RIL/Abstraction layer for communication between modem and host is needed.
